PTSO General Membership Meeting

o General:
o Membership - 265 (173 Families, 72 Staff, balance are students or individual memberships)
o Review & approve general membership meeting minutes from Nov 2025 and Jan 2026
meeting [quorum not achieved for voting on approving minutes]
o Wellness event on April 8, 6-645pm in the Bubble. Doors open at 5:30pm. It is no cost, first
come-first serve, registration required through Eventbrite.

o Open positions within the PTSO
▪ Holiday Extravaganza coordinator - Event is Saturday, December 5th. Planning has
begun. This is the largest fundraiser for PTSO.
▪ Staff Appreciation Day Manager - FCPS has a calendar set for every year. PTSO
funded.
▪ Teacher Back to School Breakfast (August) & Teacher Lunch Manger (May). Organize
and execute both events. Solicit donations from the community.
▪ Honor Roll recognition bags - 100 bags are assembled and given to Marci Garrison at
the end of each quarter, minus the last. PTSO funded.
▪ Membership Chair – Work toward increasing membership for PTSO. Identify events
to advertise membership opportunities, such as Stallion Stampede and Back to
School Night.
Discussion: 2 adults to staff the concession stand. Could consider limited
availability, such as hot dogs and pretzels. Normally, 20% revenue.
▪ Fundraising chair - Plan and lead efforts to raise funds. This position is typically
separate from the Extravaganza efforts.
▪ Science Fair - Coordinate feeding the judges, volunteers, and all students
participating in the Science Fair. PTSO funded.
▪ Military Connection - Coordinate with Military-Connected Families to assist with
community events.
o Budget:
o Treasurer report
▪ Income increased $2200 (ANG ticket sales 375; seat raffle 375); seasonal roots;
braided leis. No additional restaurant nights other than Yaffa Grille. Predicting
increase of lawn signs for April/May. Goal – not to use the full $10K.
▪ Expenses most toward club grants $636 (potato bar) and Muslim Student
Association.
▪ $613 remaining from Science Fair. Propose that if classroom or club grants exceed
budget, pull from this budget first.
▪ Need to look at purchasing gift cards for Teacher/Staff Appreciation Week (first
week of May). Normally purchase 200 gift cards, $10 denominations. Any remaining
gift cards are applied toward the Back to School Breakfast (inserted gift cards
randomly into the paper bags that are available for teachers).
o Principal Notes:
o March 17 Community Basketball competition – Students v. staff and parents
▪ 6-8pm Main Gym, wear green, $5/door plus LCAC Donations accepted. Deadline for
participation was March 3 rd , but if you’re wondering if anyone dropped out, email
Mr. Kingston at swkingston@fcps.edu to participate.
o March 18 Student Advisory Council Meeting 10:15am, Parent Advisory Council Meeting at
5pm. Signup link is in the Weekly News.

need plenty of members to show up and help us vote for all of our returning and new positions.)
