o Nominating Committee election: The following three members have volunteered to be on the Nominating Committee: Barb Cammarata, Nannette Henderson, Kristin Redding. The Board unanimously approved their appointment.
• Treasurer’s Report (Julie Hopkins)

4. Classroom/club support requests (Nannette Henderson)
o The following classroom or club support requests have been previously approved via email by the Board. These approvals are hereby ratified.
▪ Miller/Literature Circle books/$200
▪ Long/FCCLA competition fees/$400
▪ Romney/Computers in Libraries conference/$203
▪ Ebrahim/MSA MIST competition fees/$400
5. Principal’s Report (Morris). Mr. Morris was unable to attend.
6. Committee Reports
Various committee chairs provided the current status of their committees.
• ANGP (Gilmore)—plans may need to change based on what happens with graduation; no decisions or recommendations at this time.
• Baccalaureate (Chaves)—this may be more important if there is no graduation ceremony; Becky to keep in touch with church. Will probably have to do auditions virtually.
• Golf Tournament (Henderson)—we are currently soliciting sponsors and received one large sponsorship as a result of the “save the date” email that went out. At this time, the golf tournament is still scheduled for June.
• Hospitality (Olivo)—We still have a lot of hospitality money left. It would be nice if we could use this to have another parent social and get parents together after the coronoavirus concerns pass. TBD.
• Membership (Lane)—Charlene would like to still have a membership push as membership is still below budget.
• Military Connections (Pastino)—Kristen will check on the status of the Purple Star designation; she believes the application opens up in April.
• Mosaic (Henderson)—We had been making good progress in getting students and parents together from a variety of different cultures through some of the student clubs and the SC Parent Liaison, with an eye towards helping get better parent participation in “International Night.” Nannette met with Muslim parents and was able to talk about the value of volunteering and the PSTO. We also made contact with Melanie Crosby Hardy from the FCPS Office of School and Family Partnerships to assist with facilitating a meeting with parents of various cultures. These efforts will have to be pushed off to next year at this point.
• SAT Test Prep (Henderson)—No one has yet volunteered to chair this effort.
• Scholarships (Henderson)—applications are now open and the scholarships are being publicized
• Science Fair (Klunder)—thanks to Elena Jordon and Laura Gedra, who were able to step in and help run the food offering at the science fair; it went very well.
• Spring Silent Auction (Henderson)—we have about $1000 in donations already. Looking to have the auction open from May 15-May 29; at this time, we will suspend the solicitation of any donations and decide later whether we should just auction off what we have now in May.
• Teacher of the Year (Patel)—thanks to all the food donations we received, the breakfast went well. Extra food was donated to the Eleanor Kennedy Shelter, which was very happy to receive it. There was some confusion about two teachers receiving “Teacher of the Year” as the criteria for “Teacher of the Year” v. “PTSO Teacher of the Year” was not clear. Next year we will go back to one Teacher of the Year, and the school will wholly own the nomination/decision making process. The PTSO will provide the reception for the teachers and all staff honored. Having it in early March was good timing.
8. Adjournment. The meeting was adjourned at approximately 8:30pm
