- Officers’ Report
- Treasurer’s Report. Provided by Kidada Bivens
- Committee Reports
- Academic Awards – Nuria. Number of students qualifying for Academic Awards exceeded previous Quarters. It was approved to keep the required GPA as it has been in the past, to not raise it so that less students are eligible for the award. The letters and pins will be distributed during Teacher Advisory.
- ANGP – Elena. Elena shared the progress she and Kidada have made to date with fundraising efforts, event venue, ticket sales, and donations. The venue for the ANGP is the St. James, and the celebration will be held Monday, June 6th, the same date as graduation. The event will take place 11 p.m. – 5 a.m., fostering a safe, drug- and alcohol-free celebration for seniors. Activities will include rock wall climbing, bingo, casino activities, movie, corn hole, all sports, and prizes.
- Craft Show – Renee. Renee shared that there will be a third craft show of the year, sold out of vendor spaces; it will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. We have 89+ vendors for the evet. This craft fair is being held the same day as prom, April 23rd. There will be food trucks at the event. They need volunteers. Setup will be almost identical to the fall event. This event will be held outdoors. Banners and road signs have been placed to advertise. A Sigh-Up Genius has been created and shared with the SCHS families for volunteer slots that need to be filled. The Craft Fair Committee would like to continue to do two Craft Fairs per year.
- Military Connections – Elena shared that some SCHS families participated in Wreaths Across America at Arlington Cemetery on December 18th, and the clean-up in January. Wreaths Across America is a way to remember the fallen--honor those who serve--teach our children the value of freedom. Wreaths Across America is an annual event. As one of the largest veteran cemeteries in the United States, the goal of placing a wreath on every marker is lofty and a rewarding remembrance to participate in. Volunteers are committed to remembering and honoring our nation’s veterans through the laying of wreaths on the graves of our country’s fallen heroes and the act of saying the name of each veteran aloud. Additionally, Military Connections will have some Purple Up days during the month of the military child.
- Staff Appreciation Lunch - Ann (for Karen). Karen McGuinness is coordinating this luncheon. The luncheon is taking place May 5th. The theme for the luncheon is Cinco De Mayo and will capitalize on the music being played on that day in the cafeteria. Food will be catered. A Sign-Up Genius has been created so that parents may volunteer to make donations and/or volunteer their time in running the event. The food being provided by the PTSO will be for all staff members.
- Principal’s Report. Principal Morris announced that July 1st he starts his position at his new school. He promises to give everything till the end to the students and parents of South County High School. Principal Morris shared with the attendees that an Audio Tech Specialist has been hired who is out of college instead of the field of work and is excited for the contributions this new SCHS staff member will give in the new school year. Also, it was announced that Ms. Price is returning to the classroom because Ms. Tolan is returning from maternity leave. He announced that on Graduation Day, it is an early release day; students will be released around 11:15 AM. Principal Morris shared that tomorrow, the policy for wearing masks is changing. Staff will no longer be required to wear masks because the transmission numbers are low. He also mentioned that the Debate event went well; it was an all-student run event with some adult volunteers to judge.
